Infrastructure
Manufacturing/Logistics Strategy
DeciSci is developing an application to enable a ...
DeciSci is developing an application to enable a large European manufacturer to improve their manufacturing capability while at the same time improving their logistics operations. Simulation optimization is being used together with agent-based modelling.
Shanghai Port Logistics
DeciSci is collaborating with Fudan University in ...
DeciSci is collaborating with
Fudan University
in investigating logistics issues to do with
Shanghai's new deep water port at Yangshan
Multiagent simulation is being used to study the interaction between shipping operators,
the port operator, logistics companies and other influences on the overall performance of
logistics operations.
Pedestrian Flow
DeciSci has been collaborating in the development ...
DeciSci has been collaborating in the development of a system to understand the
implications of pedestrian flow on commercial activity, emergency management, and infrastructure
planning. The pedestrians move within complex precincts, engaging in varied activities at set or
free times. Technologies used include GIS (geographical information systems) and agent-based
simulation.
Environment
World Bank Coral Reef Targeted Research

DeciSci is collaborating with the World Bank/GEF
CRTR (Coral Reef Targeted Research)
project's Modelling and Decision Support Working Group in helping to construct
integrated biophysical-socioeconomic models that will assist in understanding and
sustainably managing the World's coral reefs. Apart from the modelling, DeciSci
is also putting together the cyberinfrastructure such as
ecoinformatics tools
to allow collaboration in the development and use of these models globally.
Lastly, DeciSci is assisting in analyzing the data and metadata needs for the whole
project.
Biosecurity
DeciSci is helping in a project to understand and ...
DeciSci is helping in a project to understand and manage major disease outbreaks
caused by bioterrorists at a national scale. This involves aspects of epidemiology,
economics, resource management, and other disciplines. A number of techniques are being
employed from the complexity sciences (complex networks, agent-based modelling), real options,
and other areas.
Environmental Markets/Experimental Economics
DeciSci is working with Experimental Economists in ...
DeciSci is working with Experimental Economists in integrating the techniques of
experimental economics with multiagent modelling in the application to various environmental
markets such as carbon emissions and water rights. This fusion will allow better validation
and calibration of market and non-market/institutional designs.
Finance
Options Market
DeciSci has helped one of Australia's top banks to ...
DeciSci has helped one of Australia's top banks to understand some of the workings of the
Australian Options Market using agent-based simulation and ideas from econophysics.
Financial Product Engineering
DeciSci has provided advice and examples to one of ...
DeciSci has provided advice and examples to one of Australia's top banks of how a
new approach to the engineering of
complex financial products, such as structured products, can be greatly assisted by combining ideas
from theoretical computer science (compositionality) with that of finance theory.
Environmental Markets/Experimental Economics
DeciSci is working with Experimental Economists in ...
DeciSci is working with Experimental Economists in integrating the techniques of
experimental economics with multiagent modelling in the application to various environmental
markets such as carbon emissions and water rights. This fusion will allow better validation
and calibration of market and non-market/institutional designs.
eScience
Systems Biology
DeciSci is collaborating with the University of Me ...
DeciSci is collaborating with the University of Melbourne on a systems biology project
that is looking at the human kidney. Recent ideas from computer science and physics (such as
port-controlled Hamiltonian systems) are being used in the modelling.
Environmental Sensor Webs
DeciSci has been involved in the development of in ...
DeciSci has been involved in the development of infrastructure for Internet-enabled
sensor webs in the environmental area that complies with international standards from the
Open Geospatial Consortium
on sensor-web enablement. DeciSci works closely with our parters
DATAPCS in South Korea.
