Intern - Web2 Software Engineer
DeciSci would like an Intern Software Engineer explore how SecondLife
and other Web2 technologies can be used to test and promote its products.
Duties include:
- Exploring the structure and use of SecondLife
- Finding out how one creates a value presence in SecondLife
- Learning the software techniques for developing a SecondLife presence
- Developing a demonstrator in SecondLife
- Integrating the company's product capabilities into a virtual enterprise in Second Life
- Documenting the above
A number of the following skills will be required to perform this wrok:
- Undertaking a degree in computer science or allied discipline
- Fluency in written English and a good command of conversational English
- Java programming
- Web and Web2 technologies
Intern - Sensor Network Software/Systems Engineer
DeciSci has interests in environmental sensor networks, and there are opportunities for someone with a
background in software engineering, computer science or electrical/electronic engineering to work on some
aspect of such sensor networks.
Some of the topic areas include:
- Integrating real sensors into special-purpose boards, and field deployment
- Relating open GIS standards to sensor network cyberinfrastructure
- Prototyping various aspects of sensor network cyberinfrastructure
- Client/front-end applications, such as VRML animations and visualization
- Portal development
Duties may include:
- Installing necessary infrastructure
- Software/systems analysis and design
- Data and database management
- Programming, especially in Java
- Deployment and testing
- Technical documentation
Some of the following skills are desirable:
- Study in software engineering, computer science or electrical/electronic engineering
- Small device/hardware familiarity
- Java programming
- Database management an advantage
- Unix or Linux an advantage
- Fluency in written English and a good command of conversational English
- Ability and interest to learn quickly technical material
- Ability to work on their own with minimal direction
- Ability to deliver to their best ability on time and with quality
